I wish I had returned this as soon as I noticed it was not working to hold my Kindle in place. I don't know if this is just a bad example of the Cole Haan Kindle cover or if all of the black ones function this badly. It doesn't hold the Kindle in place for any sustained length of time or if my arm or the Kindle sustains any impact. My sister has a brown one that she loves and everyone in her family loves theirs and highly recommended this particular cover. My experience has been totally unsatisfactory and the hooks definitely do not hold the Kindle in place. Unfortunately I purchased this cover a few days earlier than a month before the new Kindle was announced so I paid almost twice as much as this case is currently selling for. I think if I had only paid $29.99 I would feel less ripped off than I do having paid significantly more. PLUS I definitely wish I had some kind of elastic strap ensuring the Kindle would stay in place since the lower hook continually disengages. I got a Kindle and realized right away I needed a cover to keep it protected. I also wanted something a bit thick, and leather, to make the Knidle feel more substantial in my hands. Saw this one at a good price, with a good brand, and seemed like a good buy. The reviews about the clips not fitting did concern me a bit, but it was worth a shot. I received it fast, but sure enough the clips didn't seem to match. I realized though, that the bottom clip is angled and the top clip springs up and down, which definitely seems a bit odd. However, if you slide the bottom clip on at an angle, then twist up the Kindle and spring the top clip into place, it fits perfect. It's very secure and I'm looking forward to using this for a long time.

This cover got beat up almost instantly. I'm not rough on my electronics, but use this cover and put the kindle in a bag for a day, and the cover gets incredibly scuffed. It looked terrible after one day's use. Stick with a more durable cover - this isn't it.

Pebbled leather would have been better so that all the scratches wouldnt show but more importantly there are no elastic bands to hold the kindle, so the only connection is through the two little metal connectors on the left side. That means the kindle moves too much and the connectors are under stress. I would have preferred the kind with the extra bands on the side.
