A Fabulous Bag for High schoolers... if you have a locker. August 31, 2010 ACriticalPerson It took nearly two weeks (as opposed to the promised one week) for this bag to finally arrive.
One entire week after school started. Since the bag is with me already, I will not deduct stars for the late, LATE arrival. (I'm usually quite flexible with late packages from Amazon, however, I intended to buy THIS bag FOR school, NOT the one I had to end up using for the first week of school.)
Anyhow, I choose the Java color. It is most certainly a lighter shade than I had anticipated, and as I am an artist, color plays an important role in everything. The strap is a warmer brown than the brown canvas used for the body, but it's not so different to the point of unpleasantness.
However, I am rather disappointed in the interior space of the bag. Perhaps other, more experienced internet-shoppers have realized long ago, but when the measurements of a bag or a purse, etc. are given, the real thing is usually (at least)1 inch to 2 inches(at most) smaller in every direction. Just from eyeing the outside of the bag, I'd say this thing is actually 3 x 15 x 10. Expect no extra room for your hand to fit in when you put in three 1-inch binders. Your bag should probably be filled with 2.5 inch-thick material at maximum for your hand to remain comfortable retrieving things from within the bag/stowing them away in your bag.
A few good points about the bag:
- has wide, almost-strechy, durable-feeling strap.
- metal buckles gives a more geniune vintage-feel
- cosmetic craftsmanship is not bad.
- wide rectangular strap rings, does not allow strap to bunch up
- simple construction.
Negative points:
- SMALL (High schoolers--keep this in mind! you NEED to use a locker if you want to survive with this bag!)
- hard to fit in the length of the binder quickly
- wrinklier than company picture
- Incredibly short strap*
- straps are not unattachable
- too-tight fitting for the junk most high school peeps carry around.
*If you have a large build--anything taller than 5'4"--I would steer clear from this bag if you want a across-the-body-strap bag.
Overall, not bad. I would not go ahead an invest in more of the same kind of bag, however, I think that this bag will prove to be useful during the school year. Go ahead and try it!
Clasp failed February 22, 2010 SDC The bag was used three times within two weeks. On the fourth use one of the twist clasps broke off. I haven't bothered to send it back as the shipping cost would be half the cost of the bag itself. I'm not sure what I'm going to try now. I'm a bit gun shy.
canvas bag December 28, 2009 J. Tschirn (Near Fredericksburg Virginia) Nice bag- a little more vivid yellow than shown in the photo, but plenty of room for notebooks for school, rp games, to use as a purse, or, like I did, fill with dvds as a Christmas present. The closures are a little fragile -- you'll want to inspect them closely to make sure they didn't snap off during shipping -- but the adjustable strap isn't too wide to be uncomfortable, and it seems durable enough to take normal abuse for at least a few years. good bag. good buy. lotsa colors!
love it September 8, 2009 L. Kearns really like how much this bag can hold without being huge, the only thing is if your a little on the tall side then the strap wont be long enough to throw over your shoulder and have it loosly hang it will fit but its a snug one, overall great bag!
Loving it. April 28, 2008 Phoebe Caufield (Suburbia) I love my bag, its definitely a little bigger than I thought and can be used for school if you carry your books in your hand and use it for folders and pens and paper.
I use it everyday and it looks very cute. I definitely recommend it.
